NEXT SPOTS...

fall break -

weekend, hopefully.. my favorite place. amazing and one of my best friends lives there... and there's burritos...

waka waka

waka waka en espanol!

esto es africa!

congratulations spain (felicidades espana?). vai azzurri, the most recent champions. i am seriously still sad about italy this year. i was genuinely upset for days after we lost... but i'm not going to dwell, just look forward to BRASIL 2014. and yay US, let's advance another round next time. landon donovan's a cutie, but iker casillas is my flava of the week. landon might be long term because he has these obscenely cute facebook updates. it's all about standards with soccer players.

i totally intended to make this a different post but now i'm just going to show you iker. so cuuuuuteeeee

the world cup isn't allowed to be over!
can't believe my friend was in south africa for the whole month. LUCKY GIRL.
i want to make brazil happen.

ALSO
i'm assuming black star grabbed their name from the following anecdote, but i didn't actually verify this. just writing what i remember.

fun fact - the black star line was begun by the charismatic MARCUS GARVEY. it was a shipping line owned and operated by black individuals for the benefit of the black community - garvey raised the cash for the boat himself. pretty amazing when society was busy excluding black people from participating in the economy - not that the structure of society does much better today to facilitate economic inclusion. garvey started the UNIA (Universal Negro Improvement Association) as well - the black star line was part of that. the UNIA became the largest black american organization ever, preeeeetty positive about that statement. ultimately, the black star line was unsuccessful. garvey wasn't known for money management skills. it is still amazing, nonetheless, that it was created and functioned for the time it did.

now i'm REALLY behind because i haven't posted pictures of the deliciousness of visiting my dude friend in hawaii. that trip was so fun. i also went to montreal... which mostly consisted of legal beer-drinking (18+ yo!) and eating WAY WAY WAY too many $4 cheeseburgers. oh god. i haven't eaten red meat at all since i've been back, too gross.

clearly we've stumbled onto the set of lost, following in kate + sawyer's footsteps.

so. beautiful. speechless.
